Lesson 1.5 Mental Health

Mental Health

Why is mental health important?
When we are depressed, we have a harder time being open to new relationships. When we react before thinking, it can put ourselves and others in jeopardy. When we are anxious or depressed, we can be meaner than we think we are being. Our mental health is important to pay attention to and learn to balance.

Personal Story:

All of these are very important to do. Within my (McKaylees) own marriage it is important for me to draw, journal, take my vitamins, take care of my plants, and even read. Why is it important? When I meditate, it helps me live in the present and not get so anxious. My husband takes care of his mental health by exercising or having a schedule and making sure to go on adventures. My husband and I need to stay active or have a hobby to indulge in to feel like ourselves. We work well together because we work similarly.

Before getting in a relationship, knowing how to take care of ourselves is a great way to stay in control of our mental health.
