Personal Development: An Individual Foundation of Strength
"...having a strong, healthy self at one's center allows you to truly give from a position of strength and generosity, not to give as a function of neediness or vulnerability (Haglund, 2014)."
The Becoming & Cultivating course has been designed to arm you with knowledge and skills that will help you build positive and satisfying relationships.
Marriage is one of life's most significant commitments, yet many couples enter it having spent more time planning the wedding than planning and preparing for their lifetime partnership.
This course focuses on essential skills, insights, and practices that create strong, resilient individuals and relationships. Building a strong relationship is both an art and a skill – it requires intention, vulnerability, and consistent effort from both partners.
As you work on becoming your best self, you will be able to use the skills you learn to cultivate a close and lasting relationship. Whether you are engaged, seriously dating, or simply preparing for a future relationship, this course will help you build a foundation that will help you meet life’s challenges and celebrate its joys.
The focus of this lesson may lead you to think this isn’t a course about preparing for and strengthening romantic relationships. What you will come to learn is the importance of improving and strengthening yourself so that you will be prepared to be the best partner that you can be.
You may have heard that relationships take 50/50 shared effort. This is one of the many myths that can lead people to feel disappointed in relationships (Larson, 2006). A true partner shows up as their best self. When each partner strives to contribute 100% of their effort into a relationship, as a stable and confident individual, great things can happen!
